History

Our History curriculum aims to develop pupils into thoughtful, critical thinkers who are equipped to challenge misconceptions and engage with the complexities of the past. We believe that History plays a vital role in transmitting a society’s story to the next generation, helping students understand how people’s lives, beliefs, and relationships have changed over time and how these changes continue to shape the present.

At the heart of our curriculum is the study of British history, beginning with the medieval period and progressing through major social, political, economic and religious developments that form a coherent narrative of the nation’s past. This knowledge-rich foundation enables pupils to understand the country in which they live while recognising Britain’s deep connections to significant global events such as empire and war. In addition we strive to educate and engage our students with knowledge rich local history, encouraging them to form sometimes, personal connections with the past.

Through engaging enquiry-based learning, students explore the past with curiosity, ask meaningful questions, and develop secure knowledge before moving on to historical skills such as interpretation, analysis of sources, and evaluation of evidence. This approach ensures accuracy, confidence and depth of understanding.

We strive to make History meaningful and relevant, enabling pupils to make connections between past and present and to enter balanced, informed discussions about key debates in society today. By the time they leave us, pupils will not only have a broad understanding of Britain’s past and the wider world, but also the critical skills and intellectual confidence needed to be reflective, informed citizens of the future.

Kent Catholic Schools' Partnership

The Kent Catholic Schools' Partnership was created in 2012, at the request of the Archdiocese of Southwark, to support and further develop Catholic education in Kent. We currently have 28 schools in the partnership, 23 Primary and 5 Secondary, all of which are part of the Archdiocese of Southwark.
